Anna Scopp

Principal Scientist at Hazen and Sawyer

Anna Scopp is a wastewater professional with over eight years of experience, the last three with Hazen and Sawyer. Originally from Kansas City, she earned a B.S. in Cellular Biology from the University of Kansas and an M.S. in Microbiology from the University of Colorado Denver. Her interest in wastewater began at KU, where she researched exopolymeric substances (EPS) in granular sludge. Before Hazen, Anna worked at Metro Water Recovery, supporting advanced microscopy, sludge densification, pilot programs, and special sampling through the Laboratory and Technology and Innovation groups. At Hazen, she focuses on process troubleshooting, applied research, dissolved organic nutrient management, clarifier modeling, and sludge settleability - with a particular passion for densification. Outside of work, Anna enjoys yoga, snowboarding, cooking, and hiking with her German Shepherd, Ellen.
